About

Economics most often enters the public agenda through headlines such as crises, growth rates, or inflation. Yet each of these topics is part of a broader structure that directly shapes everyday life and social relations. We tend to assess economic developments through the data we observe; however, it is important to remember that behind these figures lie decisions, choices, and social consequences. For this reason, thinking about economics is not merely an academic pursuit, but also a way of making sense of everyday life. For me, this perspective constitutes the common ground connecting my academic training with my professional experience.

My name is Sumeyye Tuncer. I hold a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in economic policy. For nearly three years, I worked as an economics editor at a national newspaper. During this period, I prepared news articles, analyses, and commentaries on the Türkiye economy and global economic developments, while closely following a wide range of reports, datasets, and academic studies.

My primary area of focus is the digital economy. I have designed this website as an economics diary in which I assess local and global developments in the field of economics in light of the reports, articles, and data I engage with, while also systematically documenting my intellectual and analytical development.

Should you encounter any errors, omissions, or points open to debate in my writings, I would be pleased to receive your feedback. I view the process of learning and understanding economics not as a one-way transfer of knowledge, but as a reciprocal and dynamic interaction, and I consider this platform to be an integral part of that process.

Welcome to My Economics Diary. This is a space where I interpret reports, data, and analyses within the scope of the digital economy through my existing knowledges. Here, I keep an economics diary where I examine the components of the digital economy and how the decisions and figures shaping this field are reflected in everyday life.
